Art Camp Course Descriptions

“Mono-Types: Fate and the Press”

A unique combination of painting and printing that explores the method of painting or drawing with oil paint, water-based paint, or printer's ink directly on a plate and transferring the image onto paper using pressure.

“You Are What You Draw”

Drawings based on their own still life made up of 3-6 objects inside a shoebox draped with cloth. They will investigate the rendering of forms and how the composition contributes to the overall mood, story, or conception of the finished drawing.

“Concrete Totems”

Students explore the possibilities of creating small-scale, lightweight sculptural totems using concrete and a wide variety of other materials, including steel, copper, glass, burlap, and many more.

“Portraiture”

We will study the human head - yours, specifically. This is an opportunity to learn about anatomy, proportion, hairstyle depiction, and posture. Students will do contour and gesture drawing, examine measuring techniques, and create an accurate self-portrait with a full value range. BYOH - Bring Your Own Head.
