Evaluation:
● Quizzes over texts, class presentations or videos
● Mid-term exam
● Final exam
(no make up quizzes or exams will be given if papers have been returned to the remainder of the class)
● Attendance at three live concert reports is required (events must be approved in advance by the instructor) - some concerts may require an admission fee.
● A 4-5 page typed paper on a subject to be approved by the instructor (this paper is due by the last regular class period before the final exam) Please

Warnings: There are supplemental videos presented in class of musician interviews that may include language, views and subjects that could be offensive to some.
Grading: 60% from exams
15% from paper
15% from quizzes
10% from concert reports (3)
A maximum of 15% total can be earned as extra credit. Up to 10% from any one project. Any extra credit projects must be approved by the instructor prior to any student effort.
Class Attendance: Presentations, listening, and discussions are critical to the learning process. NWC attendance policy will be followed. Only travel on college sponsored activities will be excused. It is the responsibility of the student to confirm that the instructor has been officially notified of college absences. The final grade will be lowered by one letter for absences beyond three unexcused absences.
Academic Policy: Please refer to the student handbook p.47 for policies covering academic dishonesty. Students found to not producing their own work will receive a failing grade on that paper, exam, project, etc.
ADA Statement
Students with Special Needs: Students who qualify for specific accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) should inform the instructor within the first week of class to ensure that their needs are met in a timely manner. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor of his/her needs and to provide necessary documentation to the Student Success Center before any classroom accommodations can be made.
