The Northwest College Trappers went toe-to-toe for more than a half with No. 18 North Platte at the Region IX basketball tournament on Sunday, but fell 82-71 to bow out of the post-season. The Trappers advanced to the round of eight with an 85-74 win over Gillette on Saturday.
The Northwest College women's basketball team was ousted from Region IX tournament play 76-69 by Northeast Nebraska in Sterling, Colo., on Saturday. The loss wraps up the Trappers' season at 11-19.

The Northwest College Trappers rebounded from a late-season loss at Sheridan to capture victory in the final two men's basketball games of the season. The Trappers closed out the regular season with wins over Central Wyoming and Casper College last week.
The regular season did not end as well for the Northwest College women. The Trappers head for Region IX tournament action this week after losing 88-82 to Central Wyoming and 73-55 to Casper to close out the regular season.
After a first half in which neither team could hit much from the floor, the Sheridan Generals took their fight with the Northwest College women's basketball team to the free throw line after intermission. The result was an 87-72 victory for the host Generals on Tuesday night.
The Northwest College men's basketball team lost more than a basketball game on Tuesday night. In falling 104-90 to Sheridan College, the Trappers also saw both the North sub-region title and the opportunity to host next month's Region IX championship tournament slip from their grasp.
