Several strong programs provide visual arts & communication students with an array of choices focusing on the development of professional portfolios.

Northwest College Visual Arts and Communications programs provide inter-disciplinary study in the related fields of visual arts and visual communication.

Degree offerings include the AA and AAS. Areas of specialization are Fine Art, Graphic Design, Graphic Arts Prepress, Graphic Arts Printing, Commercial Photography, Journalism, Screenwriting, Film, Radio, and Television Production. Each field of study includes intensive hands-on studio practice, history, criticism, and theory. Courses provide training for students interested in beginning a professional career in two years or for transferring to a four-year institution to complete a Bachelor's degree.

The Visual Arts and Communications programs have an average enrollment of 800 students. The teaching staff consists of 12 permanent faculty and several adjunct faculty. There are two galleries on campus and the school maintains an active visiting artist program.
