Equipment Checklist
Students must have these items when school starts
General
- 3 five-gallon rubber or plastic buckets
- Flat halter, 24" chain and lead line
- Grooming kit, including a hoof pick, round rubber or plastic curry, body brush and mane comb
- 4 Leg waps with Velcro closing
- 4 Cotton quilts
- Clippers with #40 and #10 blades
- * Must have the first day of class or you cannot ride.
Apparel / First day of class
- Hunt cap with harness that meets ASTM standards and SEI Certification *
- Western riding boots
- Hunt or dressage boots (may use western boots with full or 1/2 chaps)
- 1 pair britches or full chaps
- ** College has some saddles, so if you don't already own one, please wait to purchase it in this area after you arrive.
Tack
- English/Western saddle **
- Dee ring snaffle bit — smooth mouth
- Western heavy leather split reins
- English reins with laces
- Lunge whip and lunge line (flat cotton web preferred)
- Dressage whip
- Western saddle pad and cinches
- Western spurs (1-1/2 inch band, ball or at least 1" rowels)
- English leathers and irons (Fillis or similar heavy irons), saddle pad and girth
- Having a winter blanket isn't mandatory, but is recommended.
