Equipment Checklist


Students must have these items when school starts


Equipment
General
  • 3 five-gallon rubber or plastic buckets
  • Flat halter, 24" chain and lead line
  • Grooming kit, including a hoof pick, round rubber or plastic curry, body brush and mane comb
  • 4 Leg waps with Velcro closing
  • 4 Cotton quilts
  • Clippers with #40 and #10 blades

  • * Must have the first day of class or you cannot ride.
Apparel / First day of class
  • Hunt cap with harness that meets ASTM standards and SEI Certification *
  • Western riding boots
  • Hunt or dressage boots (may use western boots with full or 1/2 chaps)
  • 1 pair britches or full chaps

  • ** College has some saddles, so if you don't already own one, please wait to purchase it in this area after you arrive.
Tack
  • English/Western saddle **
  • Dee ring snaffle bit — smooth mouth
  • Western heavy leather split reins
  • English reins with laces
  • Lunge whip and lunge line (flat cotton web preferred)
  • Dressage whip
  • Western saddle pad and cinches
  • Western spurs (1-1/2 inch band, ball or at least 1" rowels)
  • English leathers and irons (Fillis or similar heavy irons), saddle pad and girth
  • Having a winter blanket isn't mandatory, but is recommended.
