Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

Parents of dependent students may borrow up to the full cost of attendance, minus other financial assistance received by the student to meet educational costs.

  • The interest rate is fixed at 8.5%
  • Repayment of principal and interest begins 60 days after the 2nd disbursement
  • Parent loan checks are sent to NWC by the lender
  • If the students NWC account is paid in full, the check will be endorsed by NWC and forwarded to the parent.

If the student has an outstanding account balance, the PLUS check will be sent to the parent for endorsement and upon return receipt in the Financial Aid Office, the PLUS loan will be applied to the students account. Any remaining funds, at the parent's discretion, will either be sent to the parent or given to the student.

To apply

Call the NWC Financial Aid Office to have a paper Master Promissory Note mailed to the parent.

You can call Education Assistance Corporation's pre-approval number 1-800-354-7070 to determine if you qualify to borrow. Be sure to contact your local lender to see if they offer student/parent loans.
