Northwest College graduation requirements are pretty simple. The College Catalog spells out these requirements in detail, but here's an overview. A student must:
- Complete 64 credits of college-level course work with an overall grade point average of at least 2.0. Note that it must be college-level course work. Developmental courses don't count towards graduation.
- Take 15 of the last 30 credits to be applied toward the degree from Northwest. (See the section on transferring credits to Northwest for more discussion on the implications of this requirement.)
- Successfully complete a capstone course. Most capstone courses are taught in specific areas, but there are capstone courses available for students in General Studies.
- Meet all course general education requirements for the specific degree. Keep in mind that general education requirements vary according to the degree. In fact, there are only two general education requirements that are the same for all three degrees: American and Wyoming Government and Wellness Education. Otherwise, each degree varies in the number of credits required for general education and in the courses that may be used to fill those requirements.
- Apply for graduation. A degree is not awarded to a student automatically, even if that student has met all the graduation requirements. A student must apply for graduation. Forms are available in the Enrollment Services office.
