Student Appeals

The Student Appeals Board is a committee made up of two students and three faculty, with a counselor, the Vice President of  Student Services and the Vice President of Academic Affairs present in a non-voting capacity.

The Board is chaired by the College's Grievance Officer, who has the job of insuring that all appeals and grievances at the College receive a fair and impartial hearing.

Students may contact the Grievance Officer for clarifications of policies relating to academic or disciplinary decisions. Issues may be able to be resolved short of an appeal. If the Grievance Officer is unable to assist with that, the student will be advised on the actual appeal process.

Students who wish to have an appeal heard must first write a letter requesting a hearing and send it to the Chair of the Appeals Board. The Student Handbook has details of this procedure.

The Student Appeals Board treats an appeal very seriously. The student should be prepared for a frank and honest discussion of the issues involved.
