Concurrent Enrollment courses are college courses taken by students while they are still enrolled in high school. Typically they are taught by high school teachers who meet the college's standards for adjunct faculty. Many times they are taught on the high school campus. Students may also travel to the college campus to take classes.
Northwest College concurrent enrollment courses automatically appear on a student's NWC transcript. Students who wish to transfer in concurrent enrollment credits from another college should have their transcript from that college sent to the NWC registrar.
It is important for parents to remember that concurrent enrollment classes are college classes, not high school classes, and that the teachers are college faculty, not high school teachers. A completely different set of rules and expectations apply for teachers, students, and parents. Concurrent enrollment offers a number of advantages for students, but with those advantages comes increased responsibility for the student.
