An increasing number of Northwest College courses are offered completely or partially over the internet. Online courses, as they are often called, offer the same content as face to face classes and they are taught by NWC faculty. Many courses which meet face to face during the week also have a significant online component.
Students do not need to own a computer in order to sign up for an online class. There are numerous computer labs all over the campus. Students do need to have a basic familiarity with computers and the internet. They must have basic online skills - the ability to type, to navigate links online, and to upload files.
Online courses are not self-paced. They operate within the semester system and they have fixed deadlines. These courses offer tremendous flexibility for a student's schedule. However, online courses work best for students with the discipline to log on to the class regularly and follow written instructions.
