Medicine Lodge State Park has facilities for camping and picnicking, as well as an interpretative exhibit which gives information on the archaeological work done at the site.
An 800 foot long cliff at the site contains numerous petroglyphs (rock carvings) and pictographs (rock paintings).
Archaeological evidence indicates almost continuous human habitation at the site for the previous 10,000 years.
Average life span for prehistoric hunter-gathers in the area appears to have been between 30 and 35 years. They ground grain in rough rock depressions, which left grit and sand in the grain. The grit wore teeth down, and once the teeth were gone survival was extremely difficult.
