Financial Support

Scholarships

Northwest College does offer a limited number of merit-based scholarships to incoming international students. Students can also apply for different scholarships after they have been on campus for one semester.

Work Study

In America it is common for students to work on campus while they are attending classes. At Northwest College, many international students have these Work Study jobs. Our staff will be glad to help you find one that meets your needs and interests.

Internships

All students are encouraged to apply for paid internships if they are available in their field of study. Students must be on campus for two semesters before they are eligible. Examples of past internships have included: field work in Biology and Wildlife Sciences through the Buffalo Bill Historical Center Museum and guiding Japanese tourists in Anchorage, Alaska. Please coordinate this benefit with Mary Baumann and your academic advisor.

Students who graduate from Northwest can also apply for an OPT (Optional Practical Training) Visa during their final semester of study here. This allows them to work for one year in the U.S. before transferring to another university or before returning home.
