  • Access Science — An online version of Encyclopedia of Science and Technology; also includes biographies of well-known scientists.
  • Britannica Online — An excellent online encyclopedia, dictionary, and world atlas. Don't know much about your topic? Start here.
  • CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics — The online version of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics
  • Country Studies — Presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world.
  • CountryWatch — Includes country reviews, data, maps, intelligence briefings, specials reports and more.
  • Credo Reference — General reference source, aggregating content of major subjects from the "best publishers of reference."
  • New Database Culture Grams — Provided by the Wyoming Sate Library, Culture Grams provides demographic, political, economic, climate, and social statistical information and maps about world countries, states, and Canadian provinces.
  • New Database Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR) (via STATRef!)
  • Encyclopedia of Associations: National Organizations of the U.S. (Part of Gale Directory Library) — This publication is part of Gale Directory Library, a federated search engine of directories.
  • Encyclopedia.com — A free online encyclopedia, Encyclopedia.com features premier titles like The Columbia Encyclopedia, Oxford’s World Encyclopedia, and the Encyclopedia of World Biography. Dictionaries range from the general purpose Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English, to social science terms in A Dictionary of Psychology, to health-related nutrition definitions in A Dictionary of Food Nutrition & more.
  • Gale Reference (GVRL) — All of your favorite reference books online. Search within one reference title, across several reference titles, or even across several other Gale databases.  Note: GVRL may perform better with Firefox browser rather than Internet Explorer.
  • Grzimek's Animal Life Online — The standard, premier animal encyclopedia that includes ancillary topics such as biomes, endangered species, prehistoric animals, etc. and media additions (interactive maps, photos, video and audio tracks).

  • Oxford Art Online — A comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day. Was Grove Art Online.
  • Oxford Music Online — Online music encyclopedia; full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, second edition(London, 2001), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera (London, 1992), and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, second edition(London, 2002). Articles that have been updated since their appearance in print are date-stamped in the upper right corner of the screen. Was Grove Music Online.
  • Oxford Reference Online: Premium Collection — From ready-reference (quick reference) to comprehensive scholarly articles.
  • Reference Universe-- Search Hinckley Library Reference (Paratext) — A search engine to search the complete back-of-the-book indexes and articles to over 16,000 reference works and then matches them to Hinckley Library's reference collection.

  • New Database UpToDate (for Nurses, Clinicians & Patients) — Every day, clinicians have questions about patient care. Patients have questions about their health as well. Why not recruit a faculty of experts to answer those questions, keep the information updated, and create a format that's easy to use? And why not also provide all of the necessary background information to understand why the recommendations are being made?
