Medeiros, Saltsman named athletes of the year
Leonardo Medeiros and Cheyenne Saltsman were named the athletes of the year for Northwest College on Monday night at the school’s annual athletic awards ceremony. The dinner and program was held at The Commons in downtown Powell.

Trapper pair signs with four-year schools
Leonardo Medeiros and Legofi Crawford, two forwards from the Northwest College Region IX champion men’s soccer program, will continue their playing careers next fall at four-year universities. The pair recently signed letters of intent.

Fresh off a regional championship, Northwest College head men’s soccer coach Rob Hill has had no trouble this spring finding recruits willing to listen to his sales pitch to come to the Powell campus.

Postseason changes coming
The National Junior College Athletic Association approved changes to the postseason tournament structure in both basketball and soccer. The changes were announced following the organization’s spring board of directors meeting in Colorado Springs.

Trappers Hansen Solarin earn regional honors
Northwest College freshmen Chris Hansen and Jeffrey Solarin were honored by the Region IX men’s basketball coaches with inclusion on the region’s postseason rosters. Hansen also had his name forwarded for All-America consideration.

Ward resigns at Northwest
Northwest College athletic director and head men’s basketball coach Andy Ward has resigned from Northwest College. He is expected to join his former college coach Bill Evans as a member of the Idaho State University coaching staff.

Short stay for Trapper basketball
The Region IX men’s and women’s basketball tournaments came to an unceremonious end for the Northwest College Trappers as both teams were defeated in their opening contests. The men fell by a 67-63 count to North Platte. The Trapper women lost 87-45 to Northeastern.

Trapper women open against Northeastern
The Northwest College women’s basketball team will begin the Region IX tournament in the same fashion it began last season — staring across the court at Northeastern Junior College. The teams, which played multiple times last season, managed to avoid a regular season encounter this year.

NWC wrestling fought through travel, injury, troubles
Whoever said getting there is half the fun was most assuredly not in charge of trying to get the Northwest College wrestling team to its destination. While last weekend’s national tournament may have resulted in five All Americans and the wrestling program’s 18th consecutive top 10 national finish, getting there was nothing short of an adventure.

Northwest College
