The Northwest College men’s basketball team slid from a first-place tie atop the Region IX North standings with a 68-64 overtime loss at Dawson Community College last Thursday. The loss came 24 hours after the Trappers looked in full control against Gillette College.

Sophomore Keithen Cast was named the 2011 recipient of the Apodaca Award, then had to sit and watch as the seventh- ranked Trapper wrestling team competed without him at the 2012 Apodaca Duals in Powell over the weekend.

The Northwest College Trappers snapped a two-game skid to rally past No. 20 Western Wyoming 82-71 in Region IX North men’s basketball action. The victory lifts the Trappers into a four-way tie atop the North division standings.

Rough week for Northwest Trapper women
The Northwest College Trapper women’s basketball team slid to 10-9 this season after dropping a pair of Region IX North contests last week. Northwest fell 82-68 on the road at Miles Community College, then dropped a 77-54 decision to Western Wyoming at home on Saturday.

Trappers fall from rankings
The Northwest College Trapper men’s basketball team is back to where it was at the start of the season — off the radar of the national junior college basketball rankings. The Trappers, who began 2012 as one of more than 50 teams receiving votes in the national top 20 poll, lost all their supporters following an 85-80 home loss to Casper College.

Trapper wrestlers sweep home duals
Fresh off a fourth-place finish at the National Duals, the seventh-ranked Northwest College wrestling team returned to the mat last Thursday and Friday for a pair of home duals. The Trappers clobbered in-state foe Western Wyoming by a 40-6 final count before edging the University of Great Falls by a 25-21 margin.
