NWC wrestling fought through travel, injury, troubles
Whoever said getting there is half the fun was most assuredly not in charge of trying to get the Northwest College wrestling team to its destination. While last weekend’s national tournament may have resulted in five All Americans and the wrestling program’s 18th consecutive top 10 national finish, getting there was nothing short of an adventure.

Trappers seventh at nationals
The Northwest College Trappers kept their streak of national top 10 finishes intact and claimed five All-American titles at the 2012 NJCAA national wrestling tournament at Rochester, Minn., over the weekend. Freshman Miles Nixon scored Northwest’s top finish by placing fourth at 184 pounds.

The fifth-ranked Northwest College wrestling team hits the mats this Friday for the NJCAA national championship tournament in Rochester, Minn. The Trappers suit up a full 10- man roster for the tournament, including eight wrestlers nationally ranked in their individual weight classes, placing them on the short list of possible frontrunners.

Ten-acious
The fourth-ranked Northwest College wrestling team fulfilled the number one goal of head coach Jim Zeigler on Saturday by qualifying all 10 of its members to the NJCAA national championship tournament. The Trappers crowned two champions at the West Central Zone championships and placed second as a team.

Trapper wrestlers depart for Kansas
The Northwest College wrestling team flies today (Thursday) to Kansas City in preparation for its regional tournament. According to head coach Jim Zeigler, the team is in the best shape that it has been all year.

Trappers clobber Western Wyoming
Sophomore Keithen Cast was named the 2011 recipient of the Apodaca Award, then had to sit and watch as the seventh- ranked Trapper wrestling team competed without him at the 2012 Apodaca Duals in Powell over the weekend.

Ownership of the Moose Cup will be established on Friday night when the seventh-ranked Northwest College wrestling team takes the mat against No. 4 North Idaho to begin the 2012 Apodaca Duals wrestling tournament at Northwest College.

Trapper wrestlers sweep home duals
Fresh off a fourth-place finish at the National Duals, the seventh-ranked Northwest College wrestling team returned to the mat last Thursday and Friday for a pair of home duals. The Trappers clobbered in-state foe Western Wyoming by a 40-6 final count before edging the University of Great Falls by a 25-21 margin.

Fresh off a fourth-place finish at the National Duals, the No. 7 Northwest College wrestling team will host Western Wyoming on Thursday and the University of Great Falls on Friday in home wrestling action. For fans of the Trappers, the events should provide an opportunity to witness NWC at full strength for the first time this season.
