POWELL, Wyo. - The public is invited to an evening of culture and fun at Chilean Night Wednesday, April 30, from 7-9 p.m. in the DeWitt Student Center Lounge on the NWC Campus.

Students will take the audience on a virtual tour of their country to introduce the history, geography, and culture of Chile through a multimedia presentation of music, photography, religion, traditional dress and food. They’ll also incorporate a dance and other activities.

Stretching nearly 2,670 miles north to south, but only 217 at its widest point east to west, the South American coastal country of Chile is the longest country in the world. Located between the Andes Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, it’s situated within the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area well-known for its volcanic and earthquake activity. Santiago is the country’s capital and largest city.

With diverse climate ranging from dry deserts in the north to the humid subtropics of Easter Island, Chile’s southern regions are rich in forests, grazing lands, lakes and volcanoes.

The free program is sponsored by NWC’s Multicultural Club, Intercultural Programs, Diversity Awareness Committee, Student Senate and Spanish Club.
