Trappers Volleyball Schedule Announced

The Northwest College volleyball team, under the direction of first-year Lady Trapper head coach Flavia Siqueira,will open the 2008 season Friday, Aug. 22, according to the official schedule recently released by NWC. On that day, the Lady Trappers are scheduled to begin competition at the College of Southern Idaho's Outback Invitational inTwin Falls, Idaho, with a 10:30 a.m. match against the event' s host team. That tournament will be the start of a long series of road matches for the Lady Trappers, who will not grace the court in NWC's Hank Cabre Gymnasium for an official home match until Sept. 22.

NWC Volleyball Camp Serves Dual Purpose

Flavia Siqueira, head coach of the Northwest College volleyball team, went into this year's camp with several goals in mind. One was to teach individual skills to girls in grades eight through 12. Another key objective was to allow her players, who served as instructors, to develop much-needed chemistry prior to the start of the 2008 season.

NWC Seeking Hosts for Student-Athletes

Andy Ward, head coach of the men's basketball team at Northwest College, has plenty of fond memories of his playing days at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington. Many of those memories, he said, were a direct result of the support offered by Gary and Flo Brunsvold and their children, who served as Ward's host family during his junior college basketball career.

Palestrina's "Missa Brevis" will be offered by the Northwest College Choir beginning at 5:15 p.m. "Because the Christian church is so influential in the history of western music, we sing a lot of sacred settings," Jan Kliewer, the choir director, said. "Some of the finest musical art ever written is in the form of sacred music and settings from masses. Unfortunately, our students never experience this music in the context for which it was intended."

Science Circus is back one more time to delight the young at heart

P O W E L L, W y o. ─ Northwest College is asking area residents to have a heart on Valentine's Day and volunteer to judge at the 2008 Northwest Regional Science Fair scheduled Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 13 and 14, on campus in Powell.

Safety trainings held Feb. 4-8 in Cody

Saturday, Feb. 2, Trumpet Festival culminates in free public concert

The Northwest College wrestling team once again will celebrate the life of former Trapper Christopher Brooks Apodaca beginning Friday when the annual dual showdown bearing his name gets under way at 5 p.m. at Hank Cabre Gymnasium on the NWC campus.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:
The women's basketball team was in Sterling, Colorado to compete in the Northeastern Junior College Tournament on January 18th & 19th. They played the NJC Plainswomen on the 18th and Otero Junior College on the 19th, losing both games. Their record is now 4 wins, 12 losses. The ladies will be home Tuesday, January 22nd going against Sheridan College beginning at 6:00pm.

Family Tradition

Jim Zeigler, head coach at Northwest College, often refers to Trapper wrestlers past and present as family. And as the head of the household, so to speak, Zeigler had to put the current wrestling family through a course in NWC wrestling history early last week as it prepared for last Wednesday's matchup with rival Western Wyoming Community College.

"Messiah" concert in Powell and Cody

P O W E L L, W y o. - Big Horn Basin residents have two chances this month to treat themselves to the longtime Christmas tradition of Handel's "Messiah." The entire Christmas portion of the enduring work will be performed in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, in Powell at the Nelson Performing Arts Center and in Cody at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Cody Auditorium.
