Be Prepared For Your Scholarship Application

General Tips

  • Apply for all recommended scholarships as early as possible, regardless of stated deadlines. Scholarship funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Once funds are gone, so is your scholarship opportunity.
  • Don't forget to click on the "Apply Now" button for every recommended scholarship at the end of the application process. Your application is not complete until you click every "Apply Now" that you see on the page. Don't lose your scholarship because of one overlooked click!

Section-by-Section Tips

Personal Information

  • Enter your most current and reliable email address.  All Scholarship Award Letters will be sent to the email address you provide in this section.

Questionnaire

  • Your answers to these questions will help determine the scholarships for which you may qualify. You will see a list of Recommended Scholarships at the end of the application process. (The recommended scholarships are the Private Donor Scholarships that are packaged into your Trapper.)
  • If you'll be a first-time student at NWC and want to increase your total scholarship award, be sure to fill out the Scholarship Day Reservation Form that pops up after the first question. This will increase your chances for getting an Academic or Activity-Talent Scholarship. You won't have this option if you're applying after December of the year before you begin classes at NWC.

Academic Information

  • Be ready to provide information about the high school you attended, expected or actual date of graduation, intended program of study at NWC and high school GPA. If you have not already graduated, please estimate your GPA.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure we receive official final transcripts by June 30. Your final high school transcripts, official GED or ACT scores determine final awards.

Essay Questions

  • Answering these questions will allow donors and scholarship committees to get a preview of who you are and how serious you are about your education. Do not leave these questions blank.
  • If you have an existing College Essay or Personal Statement that answers the asked questions, feel free to copy and paste text into this section.
  • The Financial Need Essay is optional.

Attaching Documents

  • Students majoring in Art, Photographic Communications, Graphics and Graphic Design are required to submit a portfolio, which can be uploaded in this section. If you do not upload a portfolio, you will not be considered for academic scholarships in Art, Photographic Communications, Graphics or Graphic Design.
  • Students may also upload documents which may enhance their scholarship application, but this is not required.

NOTE:  The maximum file size for uploaded documents is 10 MB.  You may need to reduce the size of  your images for quicker upload. Official transcripts need to be mailed to us separately.
  • If you are not uploading a portfolio, skip this section by clicking "Save and Continue."
