Online Scholarship Application Help
STARS (Scholarship Tracking and Review System) is the program we use to help you search and apply for scholarships at NWC. The following section outlines the information that each section of the scholarship application requires:
STARS Home Page
Personal Information
- Students need to provide their most current and reliable e-mail address. All Scholarship Award Letters will be sent to the e-mail address that is provided.
- Student ID# is a ten digit number that includes the last 4 digits of your social security number and your six digit birth date. For Example, if the last 4 digits of your SSN are 1234 and your birthday is January 2, 1990, then your Student ID is 1234010290.
NOTE: If you do not have a Social Security Number, create a 4 digit number that you will easily remember.
Opening Questionnaire
- Your answers to these questions will help customize the"Recommended Scholarships" list at the end of the application process.
Academic Information
- This section requires information regarding high school attended, expected or actual date of graduation, intended program of study and GPA. Students report GPAs but we will use your final high school transcripts, official GED, or ACT scores to determine final awards; it is your responsibility to make sure we receive official final transcripts.
Free Form Essay Questions
- Answering these questions will allow donors and scholarship committees to get a preview of who you are and how serious you are about your education. If you have an existing College Essay or Personal Statement that answers the above questions, feel free to copy and paste from a word document. Do not leave these questions blank.
Attaching Documents
- Students majoring in Art, Photographic Communications, Graphics and Graphic Design are required to submit a portfolio of art work, and portfolios can be uploaded in this section. If you plan to attend Scholarship Day, please bring a copy of your portfolio. If there are additional documents the Scholarship Selection Committee should review, please upload theses documents in this section as well.
NOTE: The maximum file size for uploaded documents is 10 MB. Students may need to reduce the size of images so the uploading process is quicker. Official transcripts will need to be mailed to us separately.
Recommended Scholarships
- When the other sections of the application have been finished, student's recommended scholarships will appear! Don't forget to click on the "Apply Now" buttons to actually apply for the individual scholarships.
