Aura Newlin teaches introductory courses in cultural anthropology and sociology at Northwest College. She specializes in medical anthropology/sociology with an emphasis on global health and infectious disease, and has conducted research in Papua New Guinea, Japan, and Peru.

 

Born and raised in Wyoming, Aura earned a Self-Designed B.A. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Wyoming and an M.A. in Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland. She also holds a graduate certificate in gerontology (CWRU) and is pursuing her doctoral degree in Medical Anthropology from CWRU. Above and beyond her disciplinary interests, Aura is passionate about undergraduate education and the "Scholarship of Teaching and Learning."
