Become a Tutor

There are many benefits associated with becoming a tutor at Northwest College. Among them are making new friends and brushing up on your academic skills in the area you are tutoring. Others are listed below.

Benefits

• Earn $6.75 per hour starting wages
• After completing CRLA certification (tutor training) earn $7.50 per hour
• Work up to 20 hours per week
• Flexible schedule
• New friendships 
• A more masterful knowledge of the subject you are teaching

Requirements

• Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Northwest College.
• Have an "A" (or instructor's approval) in the subject you wish to tutor.
• Have a recommendation from the course instructor.
• Participate in tutor training (which will be provided).

Training

Tutor training consists of the following:

• Paperwork
• Learning styles
• Questioning skills
• Test taking skills
• Memory
• Role playing
• Learning disabilities
• Learning the role of the empathetic tutor
