

POWELL, Wyo. - Flavia Siqueira, who's racked up a 68-20 record in her two years at the helm of the Northwest College Volleyball Team, was given a Thirty Under 30 Award by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

It will be a classic frontier showdown as the Northwest College Trappers (26-8) face the Missouri State-West Plains Grizzlies (24-8) in the opening round of the 2009 NJCAA national volleyball tournament next week. The pairing was made official Wednesday morning when the 16-school bracket was unveiled by the seeding committee.
The Northwest College Trappers vanquished the demons of last season by defeating nemesis Casper College on back-to-back nights to capture the Region IX North volleyball title in Riverton and secure a place in the national championships. Along the way, the team added a national record for good measure.

The final regular season NJCAA volleyball poll showed little change from the two before it for the Northwest College Trappers. Despite improving to a 20-8 overall record, including a three-game sweep of Central Wyoming, the Trappers failed to garner enough votes to crack the top 20.
