NWC volleyball coach presented AVCA "Thirty Under 30 Award"

POWELL, Wyo. - Flavia Siqueira, who's racked up a 68-20 record in her two years at the helm of the Northwest College Volleyball Team, was given a Thirty Under 30 Award by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Trappers to host an open volleyball tryout

Northwest College volleyball coach Flavia Siqueira is inviting any high school senior volleyball player with an interest in playing for the defending Region IX North champion Trappers next season to attend an open volleyball try-out on Sunday, Feb. 7, starting at 3 p.m. in Cabre Gym.

Gulf Coast calls Ilarraza

Known best for the blistering kills she cracked across the net the past two seasons for the Northwest College Trappers, outside hitter Irelis Ilarraza is now blazing a trail for future teammates to follow. The Trapper sophomore announced on Thursday that she plans to accept an NCAA Division I scholarship offer to play next season at Florida Gulf Coast University.

POWELL, Wyo. - There's good news for all those Northwest College Trapper volleyball fans who planted themselves in Cabre Gym for every match of the 2009 season but now feel cheated because they can't watch the most important sets of the year.

Trappers draw Missouri State

It will be a classic frontier showdown as the Northwest College Trappers (26-8) face the Missouri State-West Plains Grizzlies (24-8) in the opening round of the 2009 NJCAA national volleyball tournament next week. The pairing was made official Wednesday morning when the 16-school bracket was unveiled by the seeding committee.

Success!

The Northwest College Trappers vanquished the demons of last season by defeating nemesis Casper College on back-to-back nights to capture the Region IX North volleyball title in Riverton and secure a place in the national championships. Along the way, the team added a national record for good measure.

As Northwest College prepared to embark for Riverton and Wednesday's start of Region IX North tournament play, head coach Flavia Siqueira was certain of one thing - the Trappers had the tools necessary to earn a spot in the national tournament field.

Trappers roll into Region IX volleyball tourney

The Northwest College Trappers cruised through their final matches in advance of this week's Region IX North volleyball tournament in Riverton. The Trappers rolled 25-22, 25-11, 25-12 at Sheridan College before coming home to Cabre Gym to crush Eastern Wyoming 25-11, 25-19, 25-10.

Trappers remain out of poll

The final regular season NJCAA volleyball poll showed little change from the two before it for the Northwest College Trappers. Despite improving to a 20-8 overall record, including a three-game sweep of Central Wyoming, the Trappers failed to garner enough votes to crack the top 20.
